Rules and Regulations for the Students of Padma Ratna English School

1. (i) Students should wear school uniform in the school-Dark-Blue-Black Pants (for boys), Dark-Blue-Black Skirts (for girls, from K.G. I to Std. VIII), Dark-Blue-Black Phanek ( for girls from Std. IX to XII) White Shirts, Black Neck Ties, Formal Black Shoes and White Socks.

(ii) Students should wear plainly stitched school uniforms in a decent way. Uniforms stitched in a very stylistic and fashionable manner like pointed bottomed trousers & collarless shirts are strictly prohibited. Bottom - 14 inches for Class IV & V, 15 inches for Class VI & VII, 16 inches for Class VIII & above.

(iii) Students should wear belts and badges supplied by the school on payment.

(iv) Girl students wearing hair clips or hair-bands should use only black stuff and they should wear white ribbons in their hair. Other colourful stuff is strictly prohibited.

(v) School Track suit Uniform to be used on Wednesday & Saturday.

2. All the students should come to school in a very neat and clean manner. A dirty student will be punished by the teachers.

3. All the students should attend school assembly everyday at 8:45 a.m. A student who comes late is not allowed to enter the class room without the permission of the school Principal.

4. No student is allowed to leave the classroom during class hours. For emergency cases they can take the permission of the teacher attending to the class.

5. All the students of the school must speak English in the school campus. This may be relaxed in Manipuri and Hindi classes.

6. i) The school follows the BOSEM - designed Exam. norms under CCE scheme for the classes ix & x. Under this exam. scheme the school conducts six tests in an academic year viz, four periodic tests (a maximum full marks of 20 for each subject) and two term tests (a maximum full marks of 50 for a subject). In addition to these tests a maximum full marks of 20 for each subject shall be awarded to a student according to their performance or response to the Assignment/Project/Practical (whichever is applicable) assigned to him/her by the subject teacher from time to time.

ii) For the classes K.G. I to Std. VIII, there shall be 3 tests in an academic year namely 1st, 2nd & 3rd Term Tests. The maximum full mark for each subject will be 50 for the 1st & 2nd but 80 for the 3rd and 20 for APP.

iii) Every student has to get the minimum prescribed pass mark in each subject and in each and every test separately. Ranking, Grading and announcement of the result at the end of the session shall be done giving proportionate weightage to the marks obtained in all the tests and for the classes ix & x inclusive of the marks obtained in Assignment/Project/Practical. The ranks entitled at the Progress Record of every student at the final examination are provisional.

iv) For consideration of leave of absence in the tests (completely or partially) a student must produce a genuine medical certificate from a recognised medical practitioner (in case of sickness) or relevant documents (for other) in time.

The school reserves full right for promotion or stagnation of such a student. No correspondence or complaint in the matter shall be entertained.

7. No student can use any sort of unfair means during examination time. If a student is found using unfair means he/she will be expelled from the school without giving any warning to the parents/guardian.

8. If a student is found doing mischief in the school campus-such as fighting, bullying, stealing others’ belongings, speaking rubbish etc., he/she will be severely punished but in extreme cases he/she may be expelled from the school.

9. No student of one class can enter other classrooms. For proper reason he/she should take the permission from a teacher.

10. In an academic session every student should attend school at least 75% of the working days and the counting of the attendance shall be done from the first day of commencement of the session upto the day ten days ahead of the Final Examination. If any student attends below 75% he/she will not be allowed to appear the Final Examination.

11. If a student does not attend school due to sickness or any other reason, he/she should submit a leave letter countersigned by either of the parents or a legitimate guardian to the Principal, otherwise an absent fine of Rs. 5 /- per day will be charged.

In case of long sickness i.e. more than five days the aplication should be enclosed with a genuine medical certificate from a recognised medical practitioner.

12. If a student does not attend school continuously for one month without any information to the Head of the School his/her name will be struck off the school register without intimation.

13. Every student of the school should clear school fees (tuition/bus/hostel) on or before 15th of each month. From 16th, a fine of Rs. 10/- will be charged.

14. If a student wants to leave the school before completing his/her course within the academic session (for further study in other school or otherwise) he/she should clear school fees (tuition and other if any) upto the last month of the academic year (as he/she already occupied the seat for one academic session) failing which necessary actions will be taken through proper channel.

15. All the students of the school should maintain proper discipline. They should respect and obey their teachers and elders.

16. A student should apply to the Principal in written within three days from the date of announcement of the result of a test in case the student wants his/her answer script(s) rechecked or reviewed by the teachers. Applications after the due date shall not be considered in any case.

17. Students should collect Record Card within 15 days from the date of announcement of the result. Complaints after the due date shall not be entertained.

18. Students should use or handle the school properties such as newspaper, periodical, books and journals in the library, machines in the computer workshop, sports goods or electric appliances in the classroom etc. very carefully. Wears and tears caused to or loss of the school properties deliberately or out of negligence shall be treated as highly offensive and stern actions shall be taken up against the accused. This may include collection of the value of the damage and loss or expulsion from the school or both which the authority may think fit.

19. It is the utmost duty of the students to keep the classrooms and the school campus always neat and clean.
