Our Journey: A Brief History

Padma Ratna English School, Kakching was established on 15th January 1975 by the late founder, Shri Salam Kshetra Singh, a resident of Kakching Wari Salam Leikai. The school was founded in memory of his beloved sons, Shri Salam Padma Singh and Shri Salam Ratna Singh, who passed away on 23rd April 1966 and 13th April 1968, respectively. Initially, the school operated from his own residence. In 1985, it was relocated to its current premises at Panjao Pallum. The school was founded with public support to serve as an English Medium Educational Institution at Primary and Secondary level. The school is affiliated to the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur for class X (vide order No. CS/7 22/11/1984 dated 22-11-1984) and to the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur for Class XII (vide order no. 1/96/96-HSC (vol-II) dated 12/06/2017).

The school is a co-educational private school governed by a Managing Committee and is registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with Registration No. 3509 of 1981. The main objective of the school is to impart quality education to the students vis-à-vis the changing educational scenario of the Globe. The school has classes from K.G. I to Std. XII with a total intake capacity of 2250 (Two thousand two hundred fifty) students. For the time being, the subjects opened for class XI and XII are (i) English (ii) MIL ( Manipuri/ Alt English) (iii) Physics (iv) Chemistry (v) Biology (vi) Mathematics (vii) Home Science. Arts, Commerce and Vocational courses will be opening in due course.
